What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer I-III position at Centerville City?
Summary: Performs law enforcement duties related to enforcing laws, maintaining peace, and protecting life and property. Works under general supervision of a patrol sergeant, lieutenant and Chief. Patrols areas of Centerville City, responds to calls for service, controls traffic, writes reports, transports prisoners, presents a positive image to the public at all times, serves legal notices, summons, and warrants as required, attends wide variety of training to include proficiency in firearms and driving tactics. Will submit to a psychological evaluation and drug test. Car per officer program available with off duty use of car within 30 driving miles of Parrish Lane. Off-duty use of vehicle allowed within Davis County.
Minimum Requirements: Must be 21 years old, no disqualifying criminal records, maintain certifications, graduate from high school, P.O.S.T. Certified / or the ability to obtain Utah POST Basic Certificate and be able to pass the URMMA Physical Fitness Standards Test, have a current valid Utah driver's license, and demonstrate good moral character, good communication skills, free of emotional, physical, mental conditions that might adversely affect the performance of duty as a police officer.
Starting Salary: Competitive pay structure, wages are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience, credit will be given for related full-time law enforcement experience. Hiring Range $30.36-36.43, depending on experience. Non-certified candidates may be sponsored through POST, though at a slightly lower wage while in the academy.
Sign-On Bonus: A sign-on bonus for LEO certified is $4,000, half paid at the passing of FTO and the other at the one-year anniversary. The bonus is $2,000 for SFO paid at the same timeline.
