Enrollment Advisor

Provide individual and group guidance prospective, new, returning, and transfer students. Assist with various student development services such as new student orientation; placement options; student retention; academic and career exploration; and other student development services.

• Assists prospective, new, returning, and transfer students in determining educational plans, choosing courses, and exploring programs and career options, in-person, online or via telephone. 

 

• Assist on planning and implementing academic advising process, procedures, and activities leading to student success

 

• Evaluates credit completion and transfer credits for degree requirements

 

• Review and explains placement options for college courses. 

 

• Identifies current or potential needs or problem areas (i.e. study skills, tutoring)

 

• Refers students to appropriate college or community resources

 

• Maintains accurate and comprehensive student tracking within Anthology, Microsoft Teams, and other software. 

 

• Assists with college orientations, program workshops, and resources

 

• Maintains knowledge of relevant policies and procedure

 

• Perform other duties commensurate with the functions and level of the position to include student development, student retention, and student engagement as related to degree/certificate completion

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year related experience.
 

• Experience can include, but is not limited to, post-secondary student services experience In admissions, advising, career services, counseling, financial aid, recruitment, registration, residence life, student accounts, and Student Support Service Programs (TRiO/Upward Bound).
• Other examples of related experience include student guidance in a secondary school setting or case management/counseling skills in a behavioral health setting.

 
SPECIAL POSITION CONDITIONS:  Travel throughout the district using own transportation.  Ability to work flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends.

Position Location: There are currently two positions available. One position at our Signal Peak Campus located in Coolidge, AZ, and the other position located at our San Tan or Superstition Mountain Campus.
 The knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Knowledge of student development theory and its application to the variety of students attending community college in both vocational and university transfer programs.

 

• Knowledge of various theories and strategies used for student retention, persistence, and completion. 

 

• Knowledge of academic/career advising processes, student records maintenance and student information systems.

 

• Knowledge of modern office technology and web site development software to include Microsoft Office Suite and the proper use of grammar, spelling and punctuation.

 

• Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills as applied to interaction with students, instructors, college officials, the public, and college community.

 

• Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks according to plans and deadlines in a high visibly and high volume environment.

 

• Ability to work independently as a pivotal team member of student services.

 

• Knowledge of current best practices related to academic/career advising and higher education policies and procedures (particularly with regard to community colleges).
