What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Loan Assistant position at Central Bancompany?
Coordinates the processing of approved new commercial loans, letters of credit, extension, modification and deferral agreements, loan advances, and any other documentation as necessary. Reports any exceptions promptly and prior to disbursement.
Provides administrative assistance to the Loan Officer(s) and other lending staff, including preparing, acquiring, and assembling documentation for commercial, consumer, and real-estate loans following underwriting guidelines and policies.
Assists other departments with lending related functions including regulatory reporting and special projects.
New Loans:
Orders flood certifications, appraisals, pest inspections, title insurance, UCC searches, and surveys as needed.
Reviews loans in process for accuracy, technical exceptions and adherence to policies, laws and regulations; reports exceptions to immediate supervisor and/or commercial loan officer.
Closes loans and disburses loan proceeds.
Ensures documents are recorded and legal filings complete.
Follows up on documentation exceptions and/or any outstanding items such as financial statements or evidence of insurance.
Extension, Modification, and Deferral Agreements:
Prepares new documents and presents to commercial loan officer for review.
Maintains follow-up system to ensure documents are returned in a timely manner.
Updates records and verifies that files are complete and accurate.
Loan Advances:
Ensures loan advances are handled accurately, according to instructions and in keeping with policy; reports exceptions to the commercial loan officer and immediate supervisor.
Prepares transactions, reports, correspondence, memos, and performs other clerical/administrative duties in an accurate manner.
Handles phone calls, takes messages, schedules appointments and meetings, and assists with meeting preparation.
Responds to internal and external inquiries regarding the status of loans in process, technical exceptions, loan documents and other banking-related questions.
Consistently demonstrates proficiency in providing exemplary customer service in person and by telephone. Maintains a friendly, positive, and professional attitude. Resolves difficult situations with tact and diplomacy.
Advises Loan Officer of problems with procedures, policies, improper calculations, deadlines, and other problems.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least three years' experience as a commercial loan assistant or in a commercial lending support position strongly preferred.
Experience in loan and/or credit administration strongly preferred.
Computer Skills:
Ability to operate teller and office equipment including computers, calculators/adding machines, telephones, voicemail, electronic typewriters, copy machines, fax machines, automatic currency counter, coin machine, check encoder, remote capture machine, and security devices.
Proficient in MS office programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Communication Skills:
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
