Description
The Estimating Manager manages the daily activities of an estimating department. The manager oversees and solicits supplier bids and proposals for new/current business, facilitates the implementation of all technical estimating standards and procedures, and has knowledge of conveyor support systems and safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.
- Mentor and develop team of estimators through performance management, training/development, coaching/counseling, and motivation of team members in alignment with the business goals and objectives. Review proposals prepared by subordinate estimators for accuracy and completion.
- Act as Liaison with all Central Conveyor offices providing technical support and assisting with customer presentations to customize presentations as needed.
- Attend and participate in Leadership Meetings to support the company’s vision and mission.
- Provide strategic and tactical direction to estimators to support the company’s goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to foster engagement in Continuous Improvement ideas / initiatives.
- Review incoming Request For Quotes to understand the intent, requirements, details, timing, and scope.
- Understand the customer’s needs and create a customized proposal in the format required by the Owner.
- Perform risk analysis of projects as required.
- Review any engineering or feasibility considerations.
- Complete and / or review detailed estimates for the work Central Conveyor performs including but not limited to: determining cost of products and services, calculating labor rates, estimating special situations, establishing timing plans, developing cost savings or value added alternatives and ensuring all items of work are included in our submittal.
- Prepare budgetary and firm proposals with alternate solutions.
- Support Estimating Department in preparing final quote and customized documents for submittal to the customer as required. Attention to detail and clarifications are critical.
- Establish and maintain a schedule to ensure that all proposals are submitted on time.
- Continually review all customer general specifications and standards to ensure compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- OSHA 30 and Project Management.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with automotive and industrial equipment, in either estimating, installation, design, or project management. A working knowledge of the installation processes is required.
- Functional knowledge of automotive conveyors is preferred.
- Knowledge of market trends and equipment suppliers at customer locations including workforce abilities is preferred.
- Automotive and Industrial Project Management training and experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of fabrications, iron work, piping, pneumatics, sheet metal, mechanical drives, heavy equipment relocation and setting, millwright and rigging work is preferred.
- Works independently in a fast paced, time sensitive, and deadline-oriented environment with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Highly detail oriented.
- AutoCAD – at minimum, must be able to use for reading, plotting, and dimensioning.
- Proficient with MS Word and Project.
- Utilize Excel at an advanced level.
- Requires some travel, including overnight and out of country to attend bid meetings and review job sites.
