The Senior Category Manager position is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall product planning strategy for Central Network Retail Group (CNRG) Stores, which comprises 144 stores across the U.S. with $600 million dollars in revenue. CNRG is owned by Orgill Inc., a nearly $4 billion in sales distribution and retail company headquartered in Memphis with over 175 years of home improvement experience. Category Managers own the vendor relationship for CNRG, and work directly with Orgill category managers and our vendor partners to create merchandising and promotional plans specific to the various markets and store formats where CNRG operates. With the combination of Orgill and their subsidiary CNRG Stores, category managers have substantial buying power and negotiation leverage in the home improvement industry.
Duties/Planning
Lead the vendor relationship for CNRG stores.
Guides local market buying decisions made by the operations teams and local brand managers. Conducts local market visits each month and attends trade show events as necessary.
Evaluates market trends across the U.S. Refines assortment recommendations based on findings for programs in his/her respective categories procured by all three sourcing methods (Orgill, LMC, direct).
Works cross-functionally with Operations and Orgill category management and retail services teams to develop actionable strategic planning objectives and recommendations based on insights from the CNRG store brands to help Orgill enhance warehouse product offerings that meet customer demands.
Develops product and promotional strategies which support CNRG’s financial objectives. Communicates and executes promotional buying plans with operations and supplier partners (via Orgill and direct sources).
Impacts pricing, return on investment and net profitability through understanding of national and regional trends and changes. Develops price strategies for categories and ensures CNRG stores are implementing said strategies to maximize profitability.
Presents monthly performance reporting on departmental sales/GM trends, line review progress, and operational support strategies.
Inventory productivity and the management of inventory levels is a critical component of the category management role. Helping identify poor performing products and determining the correct path for exiting these items, along with selecting the best replacement product (when needed) aids our store operations and gives CNRG the best return on its inventory investments.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Minimum of 2 years retail-merchandising experience, at least 1 of which is a multi-facility business.
Must demonstrate excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
Able to manage with limited supervision.
Communicate effectively across oral and written channels, in order to interact with customers, employees and negotiate with vendors.
Customer service and team oriented.
Must have good management and organizational skills.
Understand and interpret data presented in statistical or numerical form and be able to use it effectively.
Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Fluency using various business systems (Excel, Google, retail point of sale systems such as Epicor Eagle, data management and replenishment systems, and related retail software programs).

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
