What are the responsibilities and job description for the Counselor I position at Central Peninsula Hospital?
POSITION SUMMARY: Counselors provide direct clinical care to clients of the Behavioral Health Department both at Serenity House Treatment Center and at the Intake office location. This position must have a detailed understanding of the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and be able to work with a wide range of clients experiencing chemical dependency issues. Counselors provide individual, group and family therapy completing all required documentation
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/General Education Degree(GED).
- Counselor I: Internship Of At Least 90 Hours.
- BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment.
- Understanding of chemical dependency and mental health problems combined with a willingness to effectively intervene with families in crisis.
- Good communication skills, outgoing personality and excellent professional boundaries.
- Must be computer literate and able to accurately document clinical interventions.
PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Sciences
- Specific alcoholism/drug counseling training with internship period.
- Chemical Dependency Counselor I Certification preferred.
