What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN - Emergency Department Charge position at Central Peninsula Hospital?
The Emergency Department Charge Nurse works closely with the Nursing Director to provide overall leadership and support and acts as a resource to the Emergency Department nursing staff. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse assists in identifying the education needs of individual staff members and/or the ED staff and nursing staff as a whole and assists in planning of educational offerings. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse provides input for performance evaluations and competencies of the ED nursing staff and collaborates with the Nursing Director to improve the overall performance of the Emergency Department. The Emergency Department Charge Nurse is assigned to direct patient care and will utilize administrative time during each pay period to accomplish leadership responsibilities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates in Nursing
- 3 years of Emergency Room Nursing Experience
- AK RN Licensure or able to obtain
- BLSP
- ACLS
- PALS within 6 months of employment
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 6 months of employment
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) with 6 months of employment
PREFERRED:
- One Year of Leadership Experience
According to the Collective Bargaining Agreement 4.2 all charge nurse roles at CPH require two years of experience in a staff nurse role, one of which must be at CPH. ACLS is also required.
