What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supervisor Laboratory position at CentraState Healthcare System?
Overview
The Supervisory Laboratory under the direction of the Lab Director, plans, directs and supervises the day-to-day operations of the Lab. Works within the department to operationalize the department's service goals and objectives. Performs laboratory procedures using computerized instrumentation and manual methods.
Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory testing of blood and body fluid specimens using automated analyzers and computers as well as manual methods.
- Develops/Implements Performance Improvement Plan for section and achieves desired results.
- Receives satisfactory evaluation of performance of policies and procedures by all evaluating agencies.
- Evaluates and implements new methods.
- Oversees maintenance of laboratory instrumentation according to manufacturers' operation manuals and lab procedure manuals.
- Reports lab results to physicians or nursing units as appropriate.
- Distributes, collates and evaluates CAP proficiency surveys.
- Prepares the department schedule.
- Maintains inventory and orders department supplies as necessary.
- Is accessible to the laboratory as needed for on-site, telephone or electronic consultation.
- Resolves technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures established by the Medical director.
- Ensures remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the lab’s established performance specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or other laboratory science required
- 3 Years Laboratory Services required
- ASCP registration preferred
- Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
