Position Title: Family Advocate/Intake Specialist
Site: 93726 Neighborhood Resource Center
Department: Family Strengthening
Rate: $18.00-20.00 per hour
FTE Classification: 37.5 hours/week, FTE Non-Exempt
Report To: Department Manager
Location: Fresno County

THE PROGRAM
Centro La Familia Advocacy Services (CLFA) is seeking a qualified candidate to implement services at its Central Fresno Neighborhood Resource Center (Central Fresno NRC). CLFA’s Central Fresno NRC will provide prevention and intervention services to families and children that will support parental/child resilience, develop family strengthening skills, and provide resources that meet their needs. Targeting families residing in the 93726 zip code, staff will work to reduce the risk of child abuse/neglect, increase safety, and strengthen the family unit by assisting clients to build coping strategies and encouraging a state of wellbeing that allows the individual/family to function in challenging circumstances.

BASIC FUNCTIONS
The Family Advocate/Intake Specialist will provide direct services to 93726 residents at CLFA’s Central Fresno NRC. This person will be responsible for receiving walk-ins and phone calls, conducting one-on-one intake assessments to families in need of services, work with parents and children to link them to wraparound services provided by CLFA and external partners, tracking client progress through evaluation tools, and will participate in meetings/trainings. The Family Advocate/Intake Specialist will provide monthly reports to the NRC Site Director.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to work with families/monolingual Spanish.
  • Responds to inquiries and information requests from clients, community members, partners, and other individuals.
  • Provides assistance or directs calls to the appropriate party in a timely manner.
  • Manages flow of information from multiple sources into the Central Fresno NRC.
  • Learns to use and implements required tools in the program including online data systems, assessments, surveys, case management and others as needed.
  • Responsible for providing direct intervention services to families and children.
  • Provides advocacy, linkage and support to clients to assist them in accessing assistance for basic needs.
  • Track clients through one-on-one intake/assessments and case management.
  • Coordinates confidential case plans and files.
  • Makes appropriate referrals for other family support/counseling services as appropriate.
  • Monitors family’s progress through the linkage process, determining any barriers to access and eliminating them.
  • Ability to engage families and children in a way that supports the transition from a sense of hopelessness to empowerment.
  • Identifies and cultivates resources and services for families that support their wellbeing and safety.
  • Excellent understanding of the available resources in the community that provide basic needs such as housing, victim advocacy, mental health, food/clothing, obtaining needed documentation and legal services, substance abuse services and faith based as well as natural supports.
  • Participates in meetings internally and externally as required by CLFA, funder, etc.
  • Participates in trainings for staff.
  • Prepares monthly activity reports to supervisor and to funder.
  • Reports to NRC Site Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS Degree in Human Services, Public Health, Social Services or related field. Must possess excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Three years of experience in a community-based human service agency, and experience in the organization, management and administration of agency programs.
  • Ability to follow-through, and be detail-oriented.
  • Must be organized, professional, and able to work in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
  • Must be proficient in the use of technology to collect, analyze and manage program data as well as computer literate in Windows platform; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Applications.
  • Must possess the ability to maintain good recordkeeping and documentation, good presentation skills, and have the capacity to be self-motivated.
  • Experience working in community outreach, and/or education programs preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Access to a telephone, computer, and reliable internet connection.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Express, as well as data entry.
  • Ability to comply with regulations and communicate official information in an appropriate manner.
  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • Valid CA driver’s license and auto insurance.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Satisfactorily complete comprehensive training delivered by COVID-19 Equity Project partners during onboarding and will be responsible for assisting in the training of staff and volunteers as needed
  • Attend mandatory training as part of their orientation and onboarding and will comply with state and federal regulatory requirements related to protected health information and privacy

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The office setting is a normal environment.
Occasionally work during early morning, evening, or weekend. May me subject to temperature variances outdoor during events.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, or walking for up to eight hours a day. Some bending, stretching, or reaching may be necessary. Lifting to 40 pounds may be required on occasion. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contact.
