We are currently looking for a Food Forensics Associate to join our growing team!


POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Food Forensics isolates filth elements from various food products and performs chemical analysis on spices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs wet chemical analysis to isolate micro extraneous filth elements from various food products.
  • Performs chemical analysis to determine spice quality.
  • Reports results for basic tests.
  • Actively participates in and understands all relevant Quality Control testing requirements.
  • Other duties as required.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:
  • Using the appropriate SOP’s, performs wet chemical analysis to accurately isolate microextraneous filth elements from various food products.
  • Accurately report results for analytical testing performed.
  • Actively participate in any Spice Chemical Proficiency Samples Program deemed relevant by Certified Laboratories.
  • Utilizing the appropriate reagents, prepares solutions necessary to perform filth extractions. Including accurately labeling and record keeping of all solutions and reagents prepared.
  • Performs qualitative and quantitative spice chemical analysis using the proper Compendial methodology and/or SOP’s.
  • Macroscopically analyze various food products to isolate and quantify visual contaminants.
  • Maintain proficiency while use and calibration of the top loaders and analytical balances.
  • Awareness in the proper use and care of various microscopes.
  • Works effectively other departments.
  • Proactively looking for ways to help others.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS degree and appropriate industry specific experience, or BA/BS degree, preferably in life sciences; current employees without the required degree have been grandfathered based on their years of experience already in the position.
  • Strong relevant qualitative and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills – ability to use your time, energy, resources, etc. in an effective manner.
  • Proven attention to detail with effective organizational skills.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Excellent manual dexterity.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
