Job Description
- Sustained high degree of care and awareness required to prevent injuries to others
- Electrical troubleshooting and relay logic
- Knowledge of AC/DC power
- Able to test current and voltage in a safe manner
- Repair and /or replace damaged parts on generators
- Service generators with oil changes
- Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools
- Performs preventative maintenance activities per documented schedules and standards on power generation products in the field
Job Qualifications
- Must demonstrate technical knowledge of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures
- Must be able to work well under pressure or within deadlines
- Know and follow all Company safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and fully participate in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities
- A High School Diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of experience in power generation equipment
- Must be able to travel, in company service vehicle
- Technician is capable of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair performing planned generator maintenance
- Ability to work independently, be a problem solver, and work with other electricians to complete tasks in a timely safe manner
- Create job repair plan based on diagnosis to include repair operations required and anticipated hours needed to complete repairs
- Respond promptly to after-hour call out service at the request of management
- Diagnoses and completes complex repairs to generators and components at the customer’s site
- Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner and anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs
- Ensures adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation
- Must be able to be on-call for emergency services
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of generator systems from 8kW to 1mW preferred
- Graduation from a Technical school is desired
- Must be able to respond to emergency repairs as needed
- Electrical or mechanical engineer or technician / technologist with at least ten years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of environmental protection procedures and basic safety practices in electricity
