What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations and Logistics Intern position at CHAIR-ITY INC?
Our mission is to eliminate the financial and emotional barriers for youth impacted by foster care who are beginning independent living. We do so by providing and delivering furniture and household goods at no cost to these young adults, turning their house into a home.
Hands-on experience in nonprofit operations. Interns play a vital role in supporting Chair-ity’s mission by assisting with furniture selection, donation tracking, events, and data management.
Requirements
- Be able to lift 20 lbs
- Have your own reliable form of transportation (to get to office)
- Compassion for those impacted by the foster care system
- Self starter
- Interest in the nonprofit sector/foster care system
- 18 years or older and currently enrolled or a graduate of a college or university
- Support furniture delivery team (no heavy lifting required) (Tuesdays)
- Assist young adults in selecting furniture that fits their space and style
- Send donation receipts to individuals who donate furniture
- Maintain and update spreadsheets tracking donations and inventory
- Keep accurate records of furniture inventory and distribution
- Gain valuable experience in nonprofit work, marketing, communications, and design.
- Make a direct impact on the lives of young adults transitioning out of foster care.
- Work in a flexible environment that accommodates your academic schedule.
- Build a portfolio of work in nonprofit management.
