Pool Front Desk Worker

Summary 

The Pool Front Desk Worker is responsible for collecting daily admissions during public hours and maintaining the facility at Sholem Aquatics Center. 

Qualifications 

• Must be at least 15 years of age 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Basic computer skills 
• Cash handling and financial accuracy 
• Basic knowledge of pool operations and safety procedures 
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail 

Supervision 

The Pool Front Desk Worker reports to the Customer Service Assistant Manager and the Customer Service Manager. 

Classification 

• Non-exempt, hourly  
• Seasonal (not to exceed six (6) months)  
• Season is May to September 

Training – Can be obtained through the Champaign Park District 

• First Aid, AED, and CPR Certification 
• Heads Up Concussion training 
• Mandated reporter training 
• Harassment prevention training 
• Bloodborne pathogen training 
• Recreation software system training 
• Facility training 

Essential Functions 

• Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees. 
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times. 
• Collect daily admissions and operate the admissions terminal during public hours, ensuring smooth entry processes for patrons. 
• Receive all incoming telephone calls promptly, addressing inquiries and providing information effectively. 
• Check receipts, pool passes, and guest bags at the facility entrance before patrons enter, enforcing access policies diligently. 
• Possess a thorough knowledge of all pool programs and events, facilitating accurate and helpful information for patrons. 
• Assist with special functions, contributing to the successful execution of events and activities. 
• Contribute to daily facility upkeep, ensuring a clean and organized environment for patrons and staff. 
• Ensure compliance with opening and closing procedures, including inventory and cash control procedures, maintaining operational efficiency. 
• Serve the public in a courteous, pleasant, and efficient manner, fostering a positive experience for patrons. 
• Maintain safety protocols at the top of slides while directing riders down, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. 
• Monitor the perimeter and indoor areas of the facility, tidying and maintaining attractiveness for a welcoming atmosphere.

Physical Considerations 

• Must be able to respond quickly and accurately.
• May be exposed to cleaning products.

Environmental Considerations 

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time 
• Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled space
