Summary
The Swim Lesson Manager is responsible for swim lessons at Sholem Aquatic Center or any other Champaign Park District aquatic facility.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage swim lessons
- Ability to effectively communicate with the public and staff and work cooperatively and harmoniously with people in an enthusiastic manner
- Previous experience teaching swim lessons
- Experience in programming and management
- Organizational and administrative experience
- Ability to plan swim lessons and maintain accurate records
- Creative and Engaging teaching methods
- Ability to assess skills and provide feedback
Supervision
The Swim Lesson Manager reports to the Aquatics Manager.
Essential Functions
- Follow all Champaign Park District safety policies and perform all work in a manner that ensures the safety of oneself, the public, fellow employees.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion in all interactions, including maintaining strict confidentiality regarding staff information, communications from supervisors, and conversations with parents or patrons. Uphold the Park District’s policies and standards for data privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Keep accurate records of daily swim lesson attendance to ensure organized tracking of participant progress.
- Interview, hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff, also fulfilling payroll requirements efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of swim lesson classes and participants, ensuring meticulous documentation.
- Answer questions and promptly return phone calls and emails from participants and others regarding swim lessons, demonstrating timely and effective communication.
- Provide general supervision of swim lessons, including participant and instructor attendance, class formats and content, and assessing teacher skills and abilities.
- Report any concerns to the Aquatics Manager immediately, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Complete all assigned work as scheduled within the designated hours, promoting efficiency in job responsibilities.
- Wear the assigned Champaign Park District uniform during all working hours, maintaining a professional appearance.
- Contribute to facility upkeep as needed, ensuring a clean and organized environment.
- Assist with the general organization and upkeep of lesson equipment, promoting an efficient and well-prepared learning environment.
- Comply with equal opportunity and harassment laws, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Considerations
- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
- Swim Lesson Managers should be physically prepared to handle emergency situations, providing guidance and support to instructors and participants.
- May be exposed to pool and cleaning chemicals.
Environmental Considerations
- Awareness of the pool environment, including water conditions, temperature, and safety measures.
- Conducting outdoor lessons, Swim Lesson Managers should adapt to varying weather conditions, ensuring participant safety and comfort.
- May work in extreme heat and humidity.
- May be expected to deal with a variety of air and water temperatures and changing weather conditions.
