What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Procurement position at Champion Foods?

Job Summary:

The Director of Procurement will maintain the optimal price point through cost analysis, identifying costs savings opportunities and negotiations with the suppliers in the category they manage for the entire chain of selection to goods received. Responsible for decisions and actions having a major impact on earnings and cost to the company. As needed, this position will train, develop, and manage analyst working under their span of control.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Negotiate and review supplier contracts; owns contract management and category budget

2. Develop strategies for large targeted categories (meat, cheese, oil, flour, etc.)

3. Drive category specific cost savings.

4. Manage supplier/industry capacity vs. Champion growth.

5. Develop formula cost models and monitor through to store pricing.

6. Continuously searches for alternative supply options.

7. Develops and directs supplier transportation optimization.

8. Supports new product development and is a liaison to International, and Champion Foods for their assigned category of expertise.

9. Consolidated sales & marketing program negotiations.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and staffing. The level or depth of responsibility requires the incumbent to work through one or more subordinates.

2. Director of Procurement will forge a partnership with Quality and Development and Research and Development to ensure all specifications for their category are continuously met and consistent with current business needs.

3. Leads team to adequately supply all Limited Time Offers (LTO’s) to prevent outages and /or loss of media exposure due to supply disruptions.

4. Responsible for product pricing and margin management for the national system and to ensure monthly national pricing and all pricing changes are communicated.

5. Reviews research, analyzes and interprets complex data to develop new

approaches to an existing problem, practice or idea.

6. Reporting or following up on reported quality, cost and delivery incidents.

7. Handles a broad scope of assignments and procedures not standardized and exercises independent thought to resolve a broad range of problems or fill creative needs where precedents are often lacking.

8. Maintain distribution warehouse management data.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Bachelor degree require in business, supply chain, purchasing, procurement or another related field.

2. 7-10 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement and supply chain management leadership role.

3. Previous experience in a senior level purchasing role dealing with food commodities.

4. Demonstrated leadership ability.

5. Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) and the ability to interact with all levels of staff.

6. Computer software knowledge at, at least an intermediate level in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

7. Demonstrated negotiation abilities and persuasive selling techniques.

8. Pay rate will be based on skills and experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and abilities:

1. Previous experience in the foodservice and restaurant industry.

Working Conditions:

1. Continuous contact with customers and suppliers

2. Continuous contact with multiple organizational levels and Ilitch companies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • New Boston, MI 48164: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
