What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at ChampionX?
ChampionX has an immediate need for a Mechanic located in Odessa, TX. This position is primarily responsible for providing maintenance of any type of vehicle used to deliver chemicals to customers, plants and/or warehouse locations. What You Will Do:
- Adhere to company policies and follow Standard Operating Procedure per job task
- Wear required personal protection equipment (PPE) at all times during job tasks
- Ensure a safe work environment, promote a safety culture, deliver safety training (weekly), etc.
- Manage all fleet equipment and maintenance needs
- Directing all fleet mechanics and maintenance activities to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and timely.
- Managing monthly OPEX on repair and maintenance
- Ensure equipment is safe and in proper working order including scheduling of preventative maintenance
- Manage and perform inventory tasks
- Ensure all partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations and maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with the external and internal customers and build positive relationships
- Will be required to travel up to 10%
- Ensure service completed and documented on all types of delivery trucks or vehicles
- Inspect all vehicles once a month
- Ensure/perform scheduled maintenance on all delivery vehicles
- Perform preventive maintenance on all units as scheduled.
- Maintain ChampionX policy inspection maintenance records
- Maintain driver's hours of service by using Turnpike and/or paper logbook reporting
- Keeps current on safety techniques and take advantage of all opportunities to improve driving and safety skills
- Recognize and avoid safety hazards in the work environment
- Assist in any emergency situation that may need mechanical knowledge
Position Details:
- Route territory will include but not limited to: CITIES/AREA
- Work week and shift: DETAILS (including weekend rotation, if applicable)
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2 years of diesel mechanic experience
- Minimum high school graduate or GED
- Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record (3 years)

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical exam
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years of diesel experience
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical, hydraulic, and chassis systems
- Have certifications in brake, CVSA, and A/C systems
- Knowledge of use of diagnostic software (ADOC, INSITE)
- Experience working on hydraulic pumps and PTO
- Awareness ofchemical safety and the measures to take in the event of skin contact or spill
- Have own hand tools
- Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL), issued by the state in which the candidate resides with all the relevant endorsements (X - Hazmat & Tanker)
