What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Automation Engineer position at Channel Personnel Services?
The Electrical Engineer will analyze existing electrical systems and making cost-effective improvements, generating electrical BOMs, creating wiring schematics, completing quality assurance, inspecting the equipment, as well as running diagnostics, and ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. You will be in place to assist and develop equipment through the implementation of emerging technologies and best in class controls design practices for high-speed automated packaging equipment.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Demonstrate strong leadership abilities and organizational skills. Candidates should be passionate about engineering and able to efficiently troubleshoot systems.
Ø Developing, reviewing, updating, and modifying PLC, Motion and HMI Code
Ø Generating and Maintaining BOMs
Ø Developing, reviewing, updating, and modifying safety systems to ensure standards are met.
Ø Design Electrical schematics and Panel layouts to meet NEC / NFPA 70, UL508 standards.
Ø Program using IEC standards LD, IL, SFC, ST.
Ø Research new components to keep current with new technologies.
Ø Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical schematics.
Ø Liaising with project managers, manufacturing, and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
Ø Establishing relationships with customer facing organizations, vendors, suppliers, other professionals, and expanding networks.
Ø Resolving supply chain issues by finding alternate parts when preferred components aren’t available.
Ø Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives.
Ø Conducting research, performing diagnostics, and troubleshooting equipment
Ø Drive development projects by directing and influencing cross functional teams.
Ø Machine Production and Installation Support:
· Support the Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.
· Respond to questions, troubleshoot, provide studies and estimates.
· Provide cost effective solutions to problems affecting the customer product while maintaining the integrity of the designs.
· Support field service in commissioning machines.
· Work with customers to integrate the machine into projects.
· Give guidance to assembly teams during manufacturing process.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
v BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited University
v 2 years of experience in electrical/controls/programming – Required.
v Packaging Machinery experience - Preferred
v Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
v Practical experience with Electrical CAD software.
v Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
v Excellent motivational skills and multitasking abilities.
v Ability to travel both Domestic and International
v Provide standard machinery controls design for solving our customer's packaging needs.
v Responsible for accuracy of calculations in reference to electrical and pneumatics required for designing automation mechanisms and equipment.
v Research purchased electrical components for adequate sizing and selection of various electrical devices.
v By using AutoCAD 2D develop working electrical layout drawings, control cabinet drawings, and pneumatic layout drawings for production and customer usage in component identification.
v Assist in cost reduction and quality improvement of the electrical designs for our machinery.
v Understand customer's electrical specifications and needs for their packaging operations.
v Assist technical writer in creation of machine documentation.
v Provide programming for standard equipment upgrades, and all custom packaging machinery.
v Participate in start-up and commissioning of machinery in plants and occasionally at customer’s facility.
