What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Channel Personnel Services?
The Operations Manager provides leadership, supervision, coordination and direction for all plant operations in the production facility to ensure conformance to quality standards, meeting delivery targets and financial goals while promoting safety and environmental compliance. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is part of the Site Leadership Team.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Responsible for all production activities and delivering of key performance goals and objectives established by the business.
Ø Establish short- and long-term production forecast through participation with Business Team and ensure that production are met with Safety and Environmental compliance as top priorities.
Ø Prepare, monitor and control monthly budget.
Ø Participate in Sales and Operations Planning meeting meetings and produce a 12-month forecast to Headquarters.
Ø Coordinate Production with planned and unanticipated maintenance activities and Turnarounds.
Ø Monitor daily production, shipping activities, product quality and direct adjustments to production and shipping plans as appropriate.
Ø Ensure continuous evaluation and implementation of improvements.
Ø Prepare daily production and monthly OAU and CUE reports to corporate.
Ø Serve as site primary contact with Customers.
Ø Direct and lead the members of the Production and Shipping groups to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the process units and customer deliveries.
Ø Serve as a coach and mentor to the department personnel.
Ø Motivate workforce through visibility and direct contact to ensure maximum safety and productivity.
Ø Ensure that all incidents are reported, and appropriately investigated and corrective actions implemented.
Ø Ensure that all department members follow required HES training.
Ø Demonstrate commitment to HES matters through high visibility and actions.
Ø Ensure completion of department action items.
Ø Ensure timely supplies of data necessary to support Environmental needs (permit application, episodic releases estimates).
Ø Counsel on performance as appropriate.
Ø Identify skills development and training needs to maintain highly competent department personnel.
Ø Serve as back up Plant Manager, Engineering and Projects Manager as required.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Ø BS in Engineering or related field.
Ø 10 years’ experience and responsibilities in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Ø Previous experience managing, leading and coaching direct/indirect reports.
Ø Demonstrated personnel management and organizational skills, ability to shift priorities and meet deadlines.
Ø Excellent verbal and written communications skills to communicate with hourly workforce, business leaders, customers and company’s technical organization.
Ø Excellent judgment and problem analysis skills are required as well as tolerance for stress.
Ø Ability to understand and troubleshoot chemical process operations in order to support effective operations.
Ø Highly motivated team player able to work in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required as well as strong facilitation, influencing and negotiating capabilities.
Ø Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing, engineering, and other functions including contractors.
Ø Ability to solve problems and present accurate solutions.
