What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Administrator position at Charlan Brock & Associate?

Acts as a representative of the company throughout the construction phase of a project to ensure consistency with the

construction documents. Collaborates with the project team, while overseeing the construction process, and accurately

and quickly responds to questions in order to positively work towards the completion of the built product.


FOCUS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Visit the project site, becoming familiar with the progress and quality of the work.

· Determine if the work is proceeding in general conformance with the drawings and specifications, and overall

design intent of the project.

· Produce field observation reports that determine the progress and quality of the work.

· Review the contractor’s submittals, including shop drawings, product data, and samples for conformance with

the design intent of the project.

· Review and respond to Requests For Information (RFI’s)

· Collaborate with the project design team, when needed, in reviewing submittals and RFI’s.

· Review and execute Certificates for Payment provided by the contractor.

· Participate in Owner Architect Contractor Meetings

· Perform building inspection for the purpose of issuing a Certificate of Substantial Completion.

· High level of knowledge of construction systems and techniques, and ability to effectively communicate

complex information in a concise manner.

· Understands how Building Code standards are implemented into the built work product.

· Proactively engages with the construction team to address day-to-day problems.

· General familiarity with design software; AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and other PDF editing programs

The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely

and accurately within the construction administration standards. There is a need for an effective communicator,

someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns.

There will be many different people to meet and work with. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely

interested in the business, agenda, and needs of others, including the company, its management, the team, the

company's clients, or all of the above. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a

major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work

will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and

grow relationships. Following up carefully, closely, and cheerfully is required to ensure both correct work and

maintenance of relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is

usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines,

structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.
