Charlene’s Circle of Support (CCOS) is a trauma‑informed Maryland nonprofit dedicated to uplifting youth and the kinship caregivers who raise them. Kinship caregivers, often grandmothers, aunts, relatives, and close family friends, step in with no warning, no training, and no financial support when parents cannot. They stretch Social Security checks, turn spare rooms into bedrooms, hold families together, keep children safe, and out of foster care. This is kinship care: foster prevention, keeping children with family.
Our Mission
To empower kinship caregivers and youth impacted by a parent’s struggle with mental illness, substance use, or incarceration by strengthening their resilience and well‑being.
Charlene’s Circle of Support is seeking community partners, service providers, advocates, and organizations to collaborate with our Kinship Support Hub a first-of-its-kind, community-based space dedicated exclusively to grandparents, relatives, and family friends who are raising children and keeping them safe, together, and out of foster care.
