LOCATION
This position is based at Landow House, our Assisted Living residence located at 1801 E Jefferson Street, Rockville, Maryland. Landow House combines a nationally-recognized design with a family-style approach to help residents maintain a meaningful and enjoyable quality of life.
SCHEDULE
This position is Sunday through Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00pm
OUR ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR POSITION
- The activities coordinator works closely with the Lifestyle and Leisure Manager to provide outstanding programming and service to the Landow House senior living community.
- Reports directly to the Lifestyle and Leisure Manager.
- Brainstorms, plans, and leads activities (i.e. music, art, writing, games, etc.) both with lifestyle and leisure manager and independently.
- Is passionate about helping others and providing excellent service.
- Reviews activity ideas and strategies with manager.
- Showcases compassion, kindness, empathy and understanding to all members of our community while maintaining professional standards and confidentiality of resident information.
- Assists with administrative tasks including scheduling, flyer creation, event planning and digital programming for our closed circuit, in-house television station.
- Possesses an understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to think quickly on your feet and utilize flexibility, with an understanding that plans and activities are subject to change.
- Ability to be on your feet often, lift objects that weight up to ten pounds, and spend time in different areas throughout the community.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Prefer a B.A degree in Recreation, Music or Art Therapy or related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted. Certification in Recreation therapy is preferred. Experience in geriatric care is preferred, but we are open to providing on-the-job training.
