What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Specialist I position at Charleston County Human Services?
Job Summary: The Customer Service Specialist I will assist clients with status inquiries regarding applications also assessing and completing applications for individuals desiring services for the programs provided to low-income residents of Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interacts with customers via telephone, email, online, or in person to provide support and information on products or services.
- Ensures that appropriate actions are taken to resolve customers’ problems and concerns.
- Determine client eligibility and complete applications.
- Accurately enters and maintains electronic documentation through computerized record keeping, along with manual documentation as required for operational efficiency.
- Receives application verification documents and enter them into the file electronically.
- Identifies and provides emergency crisis services as necessary; makes immediate assessments and responds according to accepted crisis intervention methods and techniques.
- Refers clients to community resources and other organizations for services not rendered by the Agency.
- Maintains customer accounts and records of customer interactions with details of inquiries.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Associate's degree required.
- Some data entry experienced required.
- Experience working in human service or customer service for twelve months or more, preferably in a non-profit environment.
