- This is a working manger position, involved with direct patient care, with identified days to complete managerial responsibilities.
- Responsible for providing oversight, guidance, and supervision for all Behavioral Health (BHT) and Security Technician (ST) staff.
- Responsible for day-to-day supervision of staff, duty assignments, and reassigning as needs dictate.
- Ensure Lead BHT follows procedures for chain of custody for patient’s valuables safe and performing inventory every time the key for the safe changes hands.
- Develop and implement systems at the Central Receiving Facility (CRF) that assist in modifying behavior of patients (adults and youth) (e.g., reward systems, educational programs, etc.).
- Works to improve or maintain safety at the CRF.
- Assists in reviewing incidents that involve BHT or ST and patients; including recommendations regarding policy and procedure revision to reduce the probability of recurrence.
- Monitor, develop, and implement systems that will improve the responsibility, accountability, and integrity of BHT and ST; especially involving the care of patients and their belongings.
- Responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and remaining within budget for coverage.
- Attend and participate in management/leadership meetings and trainings, as required.
- Assist in maintaining a relationship between the CRF and Recovery Center.
- Proactively manage risk at the CRF in cooperation with the nurses and physicians by assuring adequate coverage, evaluating risk, and communication of identified concerns.
- Assists with patient care management and records progress toward treatment plan objectives using the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Lead and monitor therapeutic groups and leisure and exercise activities. Record in EHR, as required.
- Interacts respectfully and in a dignified manner with all patients, staff, visitors, etc.
- Complete intake/admission process:
- Security/safety checks.
- Conduct search of patient and belongings for contraband.
- Enter information into EHR.
- Complete inventory of personal belongings.
- Explain consents and other documents required during admission and get patient and/or guardian signatures, as needed.
- Obtain and document vital signs.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the unit, laundry, making beds, infection control routines, etc.
- Redirect patient(s) behavior in a firm, yet respectful manner, participate in verbal-de-escalation, and work as a team to implement Handle with Care (HWC) non-violent interventions to fidelity, when needed to assist Security Technicians.
- Responsible for maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA and 42-CFR).
- Monitor patient behaviors and interactions.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in behavioral health. Acute care experience preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year management experience, including interviewing, hiring, supervising, and discipline of staff.
- Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test.
- Valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and safe driving record.
- Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.).
- Ability to certify and maintain certification in all levels of Handle with Care (HWC) training.
- Stand/walk for duration of shift.
- Lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to complete a satisfactory demonstration of physical ability to perform essential job duties designed solely to determine ability to perform physical duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, after acceptance of position.
- Perform repetitive tasks, grip, bend, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, maneuver patients’ weight, etc.
