Qualifications: (Inclusive of federal guidelines as they pertain to Head Start positions)
- High school diploma or equivalent and current Preschool CDA or equivalent state/national certification, or willingness to obtain within one (1) year
- Certification: current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days.
- Experience working with preschool children.
- Ability to pass health screening, including tuberculosis test, per Head Start Performance Standards.
- License: Valid Florida driver’s license and insurance.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assists in developing and implementing appropriate instructional plans and individualized learning experiences for 3 – 5-year-olds as prescribed by program curricula.
- Establishes and maintains learning environments that meet all applicable state and federal health and safety standards.
- Assists in gathering, evaluating and utilizing ongoing child development assessment data.
- Engages families in program activities by maintaining ongoing and open communication, including participation in conferences and home visits.
- Meets all state and federal record-keeping and recording requirements.
- Assists in implementing prescribed, individualized support, behavior and/or learning plans.
- Practices positive child behavior and management techniques in the classroom.
- Participates in requisite professional development activities.
- Supports and supervises classroom volunteers and interns.
- Maintains relevant, ongoing and open communication with coworkers and supervisory staff.
- Works closely with partnering community agencies to provide quality, seamless services.
- Performs assigned duties related to student safety on campus.
- Performs other duties related to the job goal as directed.
