POSITION PURPOSE
Supports the Retail Store Manager in effectively managing the operation of a store, ensuring that donors and customers receive superior customer service and that production, sales and margin goals are achieved.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides customer service
- Available to assist customers cheerfully.
- Ensures prompt and accurate customer checkout.
- Handles price changes, refunds and merchandise exchanges.
- Resolves customer complaints and concerns.
- Keeps store well stocked and clean, with merchandise appropriately displayed.
- Wears professional attire (knows and complies with the Professional Attire Policy).
- Knows and follows CGI’s customer service policies and procedures.
- Provides donor service
- Gives prompt assistance to people wishing to donate.
- Offers every donor a receipt.
- Responds appropriately to questions regarding CGI’s policy on accepting items for donations.
- Communicates merchandise shipment concerns to Store Manager, or in manager’s absence to appropriate operations employees and senior retail management personnel.
- Verifies daily summary reports, cash deposits and cash drawer counts.
- Creates and maintains a pleasing store appearance.
- Coordinates the implementation of marketing and promotional activities for the store.
- Assists the Store Manager in preparing work schedules for all store employees; ensures appropriate level of floor coverage while minimizing overtime hours.
- Assists the Store Manager in completing store paperwork in an accurate and timely manner, including employee work schedule, donation activity reports, production reports, drawer history reports, tax exempt logs, incident reports, and truck/supply orders.
- Assists the Store Manager with disciplinary actions or handles them in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Provides input to assist with preparation of performance appraisals for employees.
- Serves as key holder
- Ensures that the store is opened and closed at scheduled times.
- Follows all established procedures for opening and closing.
- Safeguards store keys
- Take appropriate security precautions when opening and closing store.
- Operates POS system
- Verifies cash drawer count
- Has all managerial rights and overrides
- Processes customer sales according to established procedures
- Understands and follows the Cash Drawer Policy
- Assists with daily reports and cash deposits
- Works assigned schedule
- On the floor and ready to work by scheduled starting time
- Understands and follows Attendance Policy
- Works at other store locations as needed
- CGI provides advance notice when possible
- Travel costs are reimbursed in accordance to CGI’s Travel Policy
- Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner
- Understands and complies with the Personal Protective Equipment Policy
- Understands and complies with all policies and procedures related to safety
- Complies with Loss Prevention policies and procedures
- Employee Purchase Policy
- Bag Check Policy
- Cash Drawer Policy
May include other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Four years retail experience required
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Good written skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse group of individuals
- Ability to work independently as well as under direct supervision
- Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- CGI’s POS certification for Sales Associate II
DIRECT REPORTS
- Supervises all employees assigned to the store except the Retail Store Manager and the Retail Store Manager Trainee
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT
- Appropriate and effective interaction with staff, management, volunteers and the public
- Accomplishment of job functions in an effective and timely manner
- Demonstration of increasing level of job knowledge and proficiency

- Cleanliness of store and pleasing display of merchandise

- Consistently high score on Loss Prevention audits for the store
- Accuracy of store deposits with minimal cash overage/shortages
- Accuracy and timeliness in completing assigned projects and paperwork
- Flexibility in working at other stores as needed
- Demonstrated ability to meet demanding and changing deadlines despite interruptions
- Adherence to and enforcement of CGI’s company policies and procedures
