Position Overview
Prep Public Schools substitutes support learning and provide key coverage while an assigned teacher is absent. Guest teachers have the support of grade level teams to ensure seamless coverage and support. This role is on-demand with hours and assignments fluctuating based on need. This is expected to be a part-time, hourly position.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans that are aligned to state learning standards to help students meet ambitious academic expectations
- Leverage technology effectively for communication, instruction, and task management to enhance student achievement
- Implement the teacher’s structured and consistent behavior management system aligned with campus-wide initiatives, fostering student character and classroom community
- Contribute to a positive and engaging school culture that supports student learning, enthusiasm, and a culture of brotherhood
- Build and maintain strong relationships with students and families through trust, understanding, and respect for their communities
- Effectively communicate with the grade-level team while on site
- Follow all school procedures and expectations

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year educational institution preferred. High school diploma or GED with some college required.
- Experience: Experience in an urban K-12 classroom setting strongly preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned and ability to follow lesson plans in 6-12th grade content
- Basic knowledge of curricula and instructional practices or implementation
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment
- Computer skills (Microsoft and Google proficiency)
Compensation & Benefits
Prep Public Schools offers a competitive hourly rate. The role is expected to be part-time, under 30 hours a week and ineligible for benefits but will be evaluated quarterly.
