What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at Cheltenham Township?
Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintaining constant vigilance over swimmers in swimming areas while on duty and identify any safety issues; no socializing while on duty.
- Rescuing swimmers and administer first aid or CPR as necessary.
- Informing swimmers of pool hazards and regulations governing the swimming area in a professional manner.
- Maintaining all lifesaving equipment to ensure its readiness for operation.
- Performing maintenance duties as directed by superior (e.g., clean bathrooms, pick up litter, empty trashcans, etc.)
- Providing a welcoming environment for all patrons.
- Reporting major infractions of rules to pool manager. Documenting any incidents and/or injuries.
- Complete other assignments as required.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum age: 15 – must have a worker permit (obtained at your High School).
- Possession of a valid lifeguard certification card from the American Red Cross.
- Valid American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification.
- Skilled in the following: Communication Time Management Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Understanding and appreciation for human differences Conflict Management Customer Service
