What are the responsibilities and job description for the Optometric Assistant/Receptionist position at Chen Optometry?
We are looking for an outgoing, caring, and dedicated assistant with excellent people skills who is eager to learn. Must be able to thrive in a busy, fast paced retail location. Experience is a plus but not required. Must have a flexible schedule and able to work in different office locations (Fresno and Clovis). The position will start as part-time with the opportunity to increase to full-time for the right candidate.
SUMMARY:
Optometric assistants/receptionists help optometrists by conducting diagnostic tests, recording and measuring vision, instructing patients in inserting and caring for contact lenses, preparing examination rooms, cleaning and arranging equipment, answering phones, making appointments, handling bookkeeping and other tasks as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Performs any combination of following tasks to assist OPTOMETRIST:
- Maintains records, schedules appointments, verifies insurance benefits, submits insurance claims and performs bookkeeping, correspondence, and filing.
- Prepares patient for vision examination; performs pre-testing that includes auto-refractor, intra-ocular pressures, keratometry, visual field, and retinal imaging.
- Instructs patient in care and use of contact lenses.
- Maintains inventory of materials, cleans instruments and keeps the office clean.
- All other duties as assigned.
- This is a part-time and possibly full time position. Needs to be flexible with schedule and able to work at multiple offices in Fresno and Clovis
REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diploma, minimum (or GED equivalent).
2. Requires exceptional organizational skills.
3. Computer literate (Word, Excel, etc.).
4. Ability to speak Spanish highly recommended.
5. Strong verbal/written skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills.
6. Ability to take initiative in performing and completing tasks.
7. Ability to prioritize workload and work under pressure of deadlines.
8. Willingness to adapt to changes in clinic schedules, practice growth and expansion.
9. Ability to function self-sufficiently, requiring little supervision.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
