May provide physical and instructional support and assistance, as needed, outside the classroom for students who have moderate, severe, and multiple disabilities. Works under the direction of a licensed staff member. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

Summary
As a Substitute Para Educator this person will provide instructional support and assistance within the classroom setting. May provide physical and instructional support and assistance, as needed, outside the classroom for students who have moderate, severe, and multiple disabilities. Works under the direction of a licensed staff member. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides individual and small group instruction of students in general educational classrooms, ILC center based classrooms and work/job training settings. Works one-on-one with students in tutoring and skill building, as well as role-modeling. Utilizes teacher-produced lesson plans to assist in teaching process towards each student's individual education plan. This may include: teaching academic and life skills; job training on sites; developing social interactions between students with special needs and general education peers; reinforcing and generating communication skills and utilizing augmentative communication devices for students with mild language disabilities to non-verbal language capabilities.
- Provides technical physical care for students. May include toileting, grooming, cleaning ventilation devices, feeding, care of G-tubes, positioning, improving range of motion, and administering medications.
- May be asked to maintain daily records of student progress/behavior.
- Uses instructional equipment including computers, audio visual, adaptive equipment, tape recorders, film projectors and other school equipment.
- Maintains clean and hygienic work environment where appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality of students' information and records.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work one-on-one or in small groups with students
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- General office equipment
