POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for the entire process of scheduling OB/GYN surgeries at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Delmarva Surgery Center. This position reports to the Clinical Manager of that site. This position works under the direction of the Lead Surgery Scheduler.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Achieve Results
· Collect all information needed relevant to patient, accurately and timely.
· Prepare and process paperwork and documents to complete schedule of surgery at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Delmarva Surgery Center.
Operational Excellence
· Ensure all information collected, processed, entered and filed is done so in a timely, accurate manner.
· Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily tasks and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, and the clinical policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security
Relationships
· Develop and maintain favorable internal relationships, partnerships with co-workers, including clinical managers, nursing staff, physicians and business office staff.
· Develop and maintain favorable external relationships with vendors, contractors, and related resources.

PRIMARY TASKS AND DUTIES
- Communicate with all OB/GYN sites regarding scheduling and authorizations of all surgery.
- Do posting sheet on patient so surgery can be scheduled.
- Match posting sheets to a report from computer frequently during the week to be sure no surgery cases miss getting scheduled.
- Collect all information needed relevant to patient accurately and timely.
- Prepare and process paperwork and documents to complete schedule of surgery at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and Delmarva Surgery.
- Acquire required medical clearance, pre-op information, consents, and authorizations etc. for patient and collect accurate patient information, from all sources, of required information in order to schedule surgery
- Schedules surgery with Peninsula Regional Medical Center and communicates authorization number and insurance information to admitting office.
- Develop, complete and deliver the surgery schedule for surgeons from all sites by last day of each week and incorporate all doctors meetings and call for the week into the weekly schedule.
- Contact patients to give them surgery date and time and to schedule paperwork to be done.
- Refers patients to specialists if necessary.
- Documents surgeries in the computer and attach authorizations and/or notes for billing.

- Communicate with a diverse patient/customer population. Will be required to successfully manage patients and families in often stressful or conflict situations.
- Utilize a wide variety of office technology and tools to collect, enter, process data.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience
· 2 or more years experience in health care setting
· Working knowledge of process improvement methodology

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
