What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registrar II position at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center?
The Registrar manages patient registration processes in the Patient Access Services Department. As the first point of contact for most CRMC patients, this position provides key customer and financial services. This position provides services for pre registration, payer authorization, registration services, pre and point of service collections, medical necessity checking and financial counseling, referring those patients to appropriate sources for follow up as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: H i gh school diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD preferred. Associate's degree in a health care field preferred (Health Information Technology, Medical Assistant, etc).
Experience:
- Minimum of one to two years' patient registration experience, experience in an emergency room, or other medical office environment experience, OR a combination of core classwork from an accredited college or university in a medical course of study.
- Customer Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Accurate data entry skills.
- Ability to use basic computer hardware.
- Experience with a Windows e nvironment or experience using multiple software/computer applications simultaneously.
Required Licensure/Certification: Certification as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Emergency Me d ical Technician, or Paramedic preferred. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) or other HFMA, NAHAM or AAHAM recognized revenue cycle certification required within 24 months of employment.
