What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Supervisor position at Chesapeake Veterinary Surgical Specialists?
We are looking for a motivated, positive, energetic individual who is able to lead in a friendly and professional manner where emphasis is placed on quality patient care to join our team!
Shifts are scheduled between the hours of 7am and 7pm Monday thru Friday.
The schedule will typically be x4 (10hr) days with the exception for the nights on call, and then the employee will be scheduled at 9a or 10a. The Employee shall participate in a rotating schedule for weeknight on-call emergencies (one night every other week), and for weekends that include both scheduled hours for in-hospital patients and on-call availability for emergencies.
The supervisor is responsible for managing the staff, processes and comprehending complex operations. Top-notch communication skills are important to be able to clearly communicate expectations with all members of the team. By giving clear and timely instructions, the supervisor oversees the work of other employees to ensure the successful completion of tasks. The successful supervisor possesses acute problem-solving skills and motivates staff results by communicating job expectations; meticulous planning, monitoring, and appraising. This role will be responsible for coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees as well as initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. The supervisor
must maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process, understanding the inevitable variables, and facilitating
corrections.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Maryland (preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an RVT or 5 years working as a technician in a specialty practice
- Minimum of 5 years experience monitoring anesthesia in a specialty setting
