What are the responsibilities and job description for the Spanish Teacher position at Cheshire Academy?
Cheshire Academy seeks a full-time Spanish teacher for the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.
This position will run from January 6 through May 31, 2025 (continuation possible), and comprises 4 sections of IB Spanish – two sections at the ab initio level and two sections at the standard level. Two of the sections contain novices through lower-intermediate fluent students, and two of the sections contain students who are intermediate in their Spanish fluency (roughly the equivalent of Spanish 3 in a standard curriculum).
Candidates who have an innovative and collaborative approach to curriculum and instruction, experience supporting a wide range of learners, and a demonstrable commitment to equity, inclusivity, and antiracism are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates must embrace participation in the entire boarding school experience.
Other responsibilities include:
- Potentially co-advising;
- Contributing two points to the co-curricular program;
- Rotating weekend team responsibilities;
- Residential/dormitory duties (only if housing is provided.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CT “A” endorsement for purposes of transporting students.
School provided housing is not available for the second semester of this academic year.
Requirements:Minimally, this candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree and relevant teaching experience are preferred. Qualified applicants will have experience teaching high-school Spanish to mix-ability classrooms. Candidates should have native or native-like fluency in Spanish with the ability to teach all levels.
