Job Title: IT Support Specialist
Department: Executive Director
Reports to: Information Technology
Position Summary: The IT Support Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and upgrading personal computers (PCs), laptops, mobile devices, and software installations for all CVTC staff and council members. This position monitors and troubleshoots problems pertaining to PCs, laptops, and mobile devices using remote management tools; purchases approved equipment, supplies, and subscriptions; maintains equipment and software inventories, and protects data assets. The IT Support Specialist properly prepares devices for disposal from the inventory at the end of their life cycle; is responsible for the weekly backing up of network files on external storage devices and for daily monitoring of all sysadmin emails. This position documents procedures, equipment asset lists; and maintenance and system changes to PCs, laptops, and mobile devices in CHIKI. The IT Support Specialist organizes and cleans all CVTC IT storage areas at all campuses weekly. This position provides training and individual assistance to all staff members. This position provides daily support, and exceptional customer service to CVTC staff and Council members to ensure conformance with information system policies, IT best practices, and CVTC strategic objectives. This position interfaces and works with vendors and external consultants. This position is responsible for participating in ongoing professional development and staying current on the latest IT trends, security risks, and best practices. This is a benefitted position, full-time 40 hrs. a week.
Qualifications, Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other IT disciplines preferred but may be substituted for 4 additional years of relative experience. We are willing to provide training for CNV Tribal citizens. Two years of help desk and/or troubleshooting experience. IT certifications are a plus. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain cooperative relationships and work successfully as a member of a team. Ability to explain technical issues to technical and nontechnical staff and customers. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Superior understanding of computer and mobile device hardware and software systems. Strong leadership skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Teams, and the ability to learn new or updated software trouble shooting. Ability to follow IT best practices and ensure security compliance. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn a broad array of networking and system hardware and software. Proficient installing and maintaining MDM systems. Experience working in virtual and cloud environments. Experience with VPNs.
Certifications and Licenses Required: A valid Alaska Driver’s License is required for this position and the ability to be insured on CVTC’s vehicle insurance policy.
Background Check: This position is required to complete a state and federal pre-employment background check as a condition of employment.
