What are the responsibilities and job description for the Leadperson position at Chief Buildings?

Chief Buildings is seeking a 2nd shift Lead Person to join the Chief team. In this role, you will support daily operations by working alongside team members while serving as a backup to the department supervisor. You’ll help maintain a safe and productive work environment, enforce quality and production standards, and provide coaching and guidance to team members. This position plays a key role in resolving issues, reducing scraps, and ensuring an organized, detail-focused approach to achieving team goals. To be successful in this position, you should have strong leadership skills, a proactive mindset, and a solid understanding of production processes in a manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:  
  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure production schedules and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Guide and motivate team members by delegating tasks effectively, fostering a positive work environment, and aligning team efforts with company goals.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of production processes, quality control methods, and the tools required to support efficient operations.
  • Identify and resolve issues that impact production efficiency, quality, or safety.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Chief’s ERP system (IFS). 
Education: 
  • High School Diploma, or GED, preferred
Qualifications and Skill Requirements: 
  • 2–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Solid foundation in manufacturing processes and equipment, gained through hands-on experience as a production worker, technician, or operator.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and influence others while maintaining effective communication and strong organizational habits.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and driving continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for creating a collaborative, safe and hazard-free environment that is driven by employee involvement. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to leading departmental continuous improvement projects, supporting and executing all safety and health policies and programs, employee training and incident investigations. 
Shift:  
  • 2nd Shift – 4:30 PM – 3:00 AM
