What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Mentor position at Child Advocacy and Parenting Services?
Minimum experience and education qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred– teaching, counseling, social work or other related field
· 3 years demonstrated experience working with families
· Demonstrated experience maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with multiple agencies and community partners
· Ability to pass required background checks
· Must possess a current driver’s license with required insurance and personal transportation
· Upon hire, complete required training on curriculum and assessment tools utilized by CAPS.
· Residency within Saline or Ottawa County preferred to serve Saline and Ottawa county children and families

Essential elements of the Family Mentoring role:
· Provide emotional support and parent training through active case management and goal setting
· Assess family needs and strengths for appropriate intervention strategies.
· Implement curriculum designed to meet the needs and strengths of the youth and family through routine, in-home visitation.
· Recognizes the value of the youth within the family unit and the importance of each individual family dynamic.
· Foster individual and family growth through education and referral to therapeutic intervention approaches in the community.
· Accepts assignment from the Family Mentoring & Support Program Director for weekly family support and visitation.
Specific Duties:
· Maintain required documentation in case files (including copies of all court orders and reports).
· Conduct appropriate communication and coordinate services with court personnel, Court Services, Community Corrections, representatives of DCF, DCF contracting agencies, schools and other agencies involved in cases.
· Attend Case Planning Conferences as necessary.
· Respond to after-hours emergencies with short-term and on-going crisis support.
· Manage flexible schedule.
· Represent CAPS through active participation in community and fundraising activities
· Perform other responsibilities deemed necessary by the Program Director and Executive Director
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
