Position Summary:
The Legally Exempt Enrollment Specialist is responsible for enrolling, re-enrolling, inspecting and monitoring Legally Exempt child care providers as defined by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
As a Legally Exempt Enrollment Specialist, You Will:
- Act in accordance with the agency’s mission, vision and values
- Enroll and re-enroll a case load of Legally Exempt child care providers to include processing applications and enrollment updates, conducting background checks, criminal history reviews, Database Checks, and NYS Fingerprinting checks
- Monitor Legally Exempt child care providers
- Facilitate Legally Exempt quality improvement projects
- Conduct trainings for Legally Exempt providers
- Provide technical assistance and support to potential and enrolled Legally Exempt providers
- Meet all Legally Exempt contract performance standards
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic and paper files
- Maintain ongoing, professional, and accurate communication with partnering agencies/programs, including but not limited to the Buffalo Regional Office, Local Department of Social Services and New York State Office of Children, Family Services and USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program
- Serve as a member of Child Care Resource Network team and attend meetings and trainings, as required
- Carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description, in accordance with the agency’s team philosophy
What You’ll Bring to this Position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Early Childhood Education related field and three years of relevant office experience; or Associates Degree and six years of experience; or High School graduate and nine years of experience; or Minimum three years office experience, including data entry;
- Experience efficiently organizing and managing a wide range of assignments with a thorough attention to detail and follow through
- Working knowledge of computers and computer software including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Excellent human relation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with a wide range of people including the current predominant linguistic, racial and ethnic populations of Erie County
- Willingness to regularly travel within Erie County
- Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Fluent in Spanish or another language that would support servicing our customers a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid NYS Driver License and a vehicle with current registration and insurance
Preferred Skills
- Case management experience a plus
- Experience with Legally Exempt child care and/or registered family child care a plus
- Working knowledge of the following is preferred: Social Service Law 390; NY Codes, Title 18 NYCRR 415.1 and Title 18 NYCRR 415.4; State issued Release Notes and Memorandums, Guidelines and Policy Statements; Child Care Facility System (CCFS)
