What are the responsibilities and job description for the Support/Substitute Teacher position at CHILD DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES?

CDR's Early Head Start centers, located in York County and James City County, offer high-quality early childhood education and care for eligible low-income families.
These very young children play, grow, and learn in our cheerful, stimulating classrooms and want you to join them. We need experienced, knowledgeable, and nurturing adults to provide support to teaching teams as a substitute teacher, on an as-needed basis, engaging children in small group activities, and providing physical and emotional care of children. We strive to hire our Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants from our pool of support teachers.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience working with babies and young toddlers in group care, providing safe, healthy, and responsive caregiving and developmentally appropriate learning activities.
- An Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is preferred.
- Requires flexibility to travel to locations in York County and James City County.
- Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, pull, stretch, climb, and move.
- Must be able to participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Must be able to frequently lift, move, or hold children weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are a plus.
Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license without restrictions is required. Must be able to successfully complete child protective services and criminal background checks. Completion of a TB risk assessment and health examination required upon hire.
