What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Health Advocate - Domestic Violence position at CHILD, Inc.?

Position Summary:

The Domestic Violence Community Health Advocate performs a diversified range of duties that include direct advocacy and service delivery, case management, data management and reporting. The advocate works between 25-29 hours per week.

Duties:

  • Provide trauma-informed advocacy to victims of domestic violence, through brief counseling, safety planning, and connections to community resources.
  • Carries one’s own caseload separate from team members.
  • Coordinate with referral sources, including the DV Hotline, Westside Family Healthcare, and Christiana Care to support health and safety needs.
  • Meet with victims of domestic violence at healthcare clinics, in safe community locations, and at Child Inc. to provide advocacy and supportive services.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • An Associate’s Degree is required with a Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred from an accredited college or university, in the behavioral sciences or healthcare field. Commensurate experience will be considered.
  • Bilingual- Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Ability to accomplish goals/ workload within part time hours.
  • A minimum of one year’s work experience in the social services field.
  • Experience with domestic violence advocacy, safety planning and case management.
  • Must have a valid Drivers License and own transportation.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
