Position Title: Head Start Health Assistant
Reports To: Health and Nutrition Coordinator
Position Summary:
This position serves as an Assistant for the Health & Nutrition Coordinator. The Assistant will work collaboratively with the Health & Nutrition Coordinator and family engagement team to ensure the successful completion of screenings, timely follow up, and data entry for our children. The Assistant works as a team with the Health & Nutrition Coordinator to ensure the health and well-being of all children and achieve our outcomes for children of all abilities. The Assistant will ultimately be evaluated on a combination of skills, dispositions, and behaviors, some of which are related to the specific service area of this position and others that represent general expectations of all Childcare Resources’ employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Assistant will demonstrate competency to perform functions that include:
- Assist with the completion of all 45 day and 90 day health screenings, including using hearing and vision machines for internal screenings on children
- Complete data entry using Childcare Resources data system
- Assist Health & Nutrition Coordinator in distributing a variety of health screening/requirement letters to parents
- Assist Health & Nutrition Coordinator with Health & Safety Audits as needed.
- Ensure child ratio rules and regulations during center-based screening days
- Monitor center health and screening supplies and first aid kits
- Filing
- Other related duties
- Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required
- Maintain confidentiality in regard to staff and family information
- Be present at work in order to provide consistency of services
- Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner

- Follow agency procedures to assure reporting of suspected child abuse and/or neglect

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Previous work experience in the health field
- Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
- Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.

Work Environment:
- Work is generally performed in an office environment.
- Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
