You will be responsible for scheduling, developing, and delivering mentoring services to child care providers in the Dallas County workforce delivery area. You will work under the supervision of the TRS Supervisor with a demand for independent judgement and action.

Position Details
Responsibilities
- Provides ongoing mentoring and evaluation to child care providers to (1) enhance program quality in existing Texas Rising Star (TRS) providers and (2) assist facilities in achieving initial TRS certification. Utilizes evaluation tools and knowledge of best practices to assist providers with program improvements and operating high quality early childhood programs.
- Develops written action plans for providers. Provides support in meeting written goals, as well as holds providers accountable for meeting goals.
- Identifies professional development needs for providers and assists administrative staff with identifying available opportunities for staff. Will also develop and deliver training or bring in trainers based on requests from providers and site observations.
- Communicates professional development and grant opportunities to providers. Assists in application process and reviews applications for approval where needed.
- Provides guidance in selecting any materials and equipment that may be needed to achieve the desired outcomes. Orders materials, ensures receipt, and assists with implementing in the program setting.
- Provides onsite mentoring for child care practitioners based on training session content with emphasis on use of classroom curriculum resources, child assessment tools, and other materials/equipment provided by this project. Models and coaches in-classroom implementation of quality child development research based practices.
- Participates in staff meetings, professional development and interdepartmental activities as required.
- Documents site visits, contacts, and other statistical data for reporting to management and funders.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education or family consumer science; or
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university with at least 18 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education or family consumer science with at least 12 credit hours in child development; or
- Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, special education, child psychology, educational psychology, elementary education or family consumer science with two years of experience as a director in an early childhood program, with preference given to experience with a provider facility that is accredited or Texas Rising Star certified.
- Minimum of 3 years employment experience in child care/early childhood setting required; includes 1 year of full time early childhood classroom experience in a child care, Early Head Start, or PreK through third grade school program.
- Experience using assessment tools such as ITERS, ECERS, and/or Texas Rising Star preferred
- Ability to handle pressure and work in a fast-paced atmosphere
- Positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and active listening skills
- Flexible and detail oriented
- Ability to resolve complaints and problem solve successfully using resources
- Excellent computer and typing skills. Above average skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Skills testing may be required.
- Ability to produce professional documents with little or no grammar and spelling errors. Skills testing may be required.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Scheduling flexibility is required; work will be required weekends and Saturdays occasionally
- Able to work in a team environment and be a team player
- Possess efficient organizational and time management skills
- Must promote a positive work environment and have prompt and regular attendance

Travel and Compliance Requirements
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license
- Driving record must comply with CCG's automobile insurance carrier requirements
- Must have liability insurance coverage and reliable personal transportation
- Ability to travel locally or out of town as required
- Mileage reimbursement is offered when applicable
- Must successfully meet all compliance background check requirements for federal funding throughout employment
