Title: Program Director - Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC)
FLSA Status: Exempt - Salaried
Reports to/Supervised by: Chief Executive Officer
Supervises: Children’s Advocacy Center Forensic Interviewers, Family Advocates, Parent Education Staff and Volunteers
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 pm, On-Call Coverage (for emergencies)
Additional hours may be necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
General Statement of Duties:
Childhaven’s Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) Program Director shares responsibility for agency leadership as part of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer on all matters. As such, the Program Director must model positive, effective, and healthy relationship skills and management approaches. The Program Director oversees services delivered at the CAC/by subordinate staff in addition to program development, staff management, data management, grant management, and coordination of the Child Advocacy Centers and Multidisciplinary teams in San Juan and McKinley County, New Mexico. These responsibilities are subject to change as well as close oversight by the Chief Executive Officer.
Specific Duties:
Children’s Advocacy Center Services
1. Maintenance of interagency agreements and coordination/delivery of trainings for prosecution, law enforcement, child protection, medical, and mental health MDT member agencies.
2. Develop and implement quality assurance standards for forensic services to ensure interviews are legally sound, child-friendly forensic interviews that minimize the traumatic effect on the child.
3. Manage contracts, grants, data, and accreditation for the program.
4. Responsible for the overall recruitment, management, and development of the staff, including training and evaluation of staff performance.
5. Serve as CAC facilitator on the San Juan and McKinley County Multidisciplinary Team, which entails thorough preparation for meetings, identifying cases in need of group review, and assuring that both Teams comprehend the mission of an accredited CAC and MDT member agencies. Consequently, the CAC Program Director must be well-versed in the standards of accreditation.
6. Develop and implement a range of training presentations on child abuse and CAC multi-disciplinary team services for team members, community groups, and service providers.
7. Provide direct supervision of designated staff and coordinate with Childhaven’s Clinical Supervisor on therapeutic services.
8. Support staff in focusing on self-care and assuring resiliency within the CAC.
9. Provide team building, program planning, and strategic planning with program and agency staff.
10. Coordinate joint interviews with Law Enforcement and Child Protective Services investigators, and prosecution, as needed.
11. Conduct forensic interviews as needed and assure staff are trained to do so as well.
12. Testify in court proceedings as necessary.
13. Maintain strict confidentiality.
14. Maintain and submit statistical information to necessary entities.
15. Participate in New Mexico Children’s Alliance meetings, trainings and peer reviews.
16. Manage the Parent Education/Parent Support staff, assuring the service reaches its outcomes.
17. Manage the Family Advocacy staff to assure appropriate “warm “referrals are made timely and case management conducted for children and families.
18. Manage entry of case information into NCATrak, a web-based application.
19. Other responsibilities as assigned by Chief Executive Officer.
Job Knowledge:
1. Demonstrate competency in conducting forensic interviews, advocacy, and child abuse investigations.

Qualifications:
1. Master’s Degree with two (2) years professional experience, including one (1) year as a supervisor, related to social work, education, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or counseling, as well as two (2) years of experience in child maltreatment investigations or interviewing children (forensic or investigative) OR
Bachelor’s Degree with three (3) years professional experience, including one (1) year as a supervisor, related to social work, education, criminal justice, psychology, sociology, or counseling, as well as two (2) years of experience in child maltreatment investigations or interviewing children (forensic or investigative)'
