Childcare Associate Job Description
Location: York, PA – Rotating
Classification: Non-exempt, part-time
Reports to: Parent Education Group (PEG) Coordinator
Date: September 1, 2022
Summary
Under the direct supervision of the PEG Coordinator, the Childcare Associate is responsible for the direct care and supervision of children participating in various Children’s Aid Society programs and services. The Childcare Associate follows best practices for supervision of youth and ensures a safe, nurturing and child-centered experience. The Childcare Associate complies with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures and actively supports Children’s Aid Society’s philosophy.
Essential Functions

1. Provides direct care to children through age-appropriate activities at the Incredible Years program, Parent Support Group, and the Crisis Nursery.
2. Acts as a positive role model utilizing appropriate methods of redirections and principles of positive reinforcement; model appropriate social skills and play behavior.
3. Completes daily documentation of client records, activities, job tasks, accident reports, etc. Reports all cases of suspected abuse or neglect to Childline as a Mandated Reporter of the agency.
4. Conducts daily, weekly and monthly housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe childcare environment.
5. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
6. Participates as needed in special department projects. May be required to serve as a back-up at other site locations and programs, as needed.
Required Education and Experience
1. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
2. At least one year of previous experience in childcare.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. At least three years’ experience in childcare.
2. Bilingual in Spanish and English

Work Environment
This job operates in a various churches, schools, and childcare environments. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The employee may experience exposure to dust, pollens, pollutants, fumes, and communicable diseases as related to the healthcare environment. The noise level is moderate when being exposed to young children. This role may routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb stairs; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and bend/reach with hands and arms.
This position requires the ability to routinely lift children and/or supplies, up to 50 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Occasional flexibility may be required to meet organizational needs.

Moderate travel is expected for this position.
