The Fannie Lou Hamer High School and Children's Aid (CA) have partnered to deliver an exciting and innovative program that integrates the Community School model at Fannie Lou Hamer High School. We are looking for a highly trained candidate with program and management experience and a strong understanding of youth development to serve as the Program Director at this site. The Program Director will report to the Community School Director.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Fannie Lou Hamer H.S. Community School team, the Program Director will be responsible for:
- Support fidelity to the Children’s Aid Community School model
- Collaborate with Community School Director on the development and implementation of program activities and special events
- Assist the Community School Director in the ongoing program matters, including program and staff evaluation and other relevant matters
- Manage the college access and success program. Supervising the college coaches and overseeing the implementation of the college workshops, college application support and all other college access and success related programs
- Supervise the tutors and the tutoring program. Supporting the development and implementation of all education enrichment program components and services
- Serve as a Success Mentor for a cohort of students who have been identified for chronic absenteeism or poor attendance
- Participate in attendance meetings and coordinate all follow ups
- Lead the attendance outreach and initiatives
- Coordinate testing prep sessions in collaboration with school administration
- Input and analyze student level data related to educational and attendance outcomes
- Work with local community agencies as needed
- Contribute to periodic reporting of program activities, successes, challenges and upcoming activities to central staff and implementation managers
- Attend ongoing meetings and trainings within the agency
- Collect, compile, and analyze data to be used for program assessment and improvement
- Participate in and contribute to initiatives designed to improve student attendance and strengthen family engagement
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Community School Director and other leaders for the success of the community school.
Qualifications:
- 3-5years of experience working with young people (in-school and/or out-of-school settings)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education or related field required
- Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Minimum of 2- 3 years of supervisory experience required Commitment to professional development
- A demonstrated goal-orientation and focus on outcomes and results
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work cooperatively with school colleagues
- Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues
- A thorough understanding of youth development principles and practice
- A history of service to under-resourced communities
- Professionalism, sound judgment foresight and maturity
- An entrepreneurial spirit which embraces creativity and hard work inherent in a start-up
- Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
