Job Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist I provides diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for children with speech, language, learning, feeding/swallowing, or hearing disorders in all settings in which services are offered including but not limited to inpatient, outpatient, outreach, and telehealth programs. The Speech-Language Pathologist I is an entry level position in a Career Advancement Program (CAP).

This position will support outpatient clinical therapy at our Telstar clinic location in Colorado Springs.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION - Master's degree in Speech- Language Pathology or related field.
  • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR; American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)-Speech-Language Pathologist
  • LICENSURE - State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license

Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience following clinical fellowship and expertise in working with individuals with autism.

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • Neonate - <30 days
  • Infancy - >30 days to 1 yr
  • Toddlers - >1 yr to 3yrs
  • Pre-Schoolers - >3yrs to 5yrs
  • School age - >5yrs to 13yrs
  • Adolescent - >13yrs to 18yrs
  • Adult - >18yrs to 65yrs

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Clinician completes case management activities consistent with department quality assurance and quality improvement standards.
  • Clinician collaborates with the family, physicians, schools and other educational institutions, and other providers to ensure the continuum of care for the child and optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect.
  • Clinician demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the department and hospital.
  • Patient Care - Diagnostic Evaluations: Clinician completes diagnostic evaluations consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and department quality assurance standards. Clinician incorporates principles of cultural-competence and family-centered care into clinical services.
  • Clinician provides developmentally-appropriate intervention services consistent with contemporary, evidence-based practice in speech-language pathology and department quality assurance standards. SCOPE AND LEVEL

Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.

Complexity: Duties assigned are generally repetitive and restricted in scope but may be of substantial intricacy. Employee primarily applies standardized practices.

Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.

Communications: Contacts with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.

Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $77,116.90 to $115,675.35
Hourly Salary Range: $37.08 to $55.61
