Job Summary
The Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, one of the top pediatric orthopedic groups in the country, is seeking a fulltime Physician Assistant (PA) with a passion for patient care and a career working with leaders in the field. This position will require a bright, responsible, flexible and career-oriented professional who will practice with one or more very busy orthopedic surgeons.
The Physician Assistant will divide their time between clinical care at our ambulatory offices and perioperative management, including acting as an intraoperative first assistant. The ideal candidate will be able to work seamlessly between the ambulatory and surgical settings, while focusing on patient care management in collaboration with the orthopedic surgeons. This candidate should also feel comfortable practicing independently, within their scope of practice.
The PA will primarily work at the King of Prussia Hospital and King of Prussia Specialty Care Center. The PA will also work closely with team members in the division including Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Registered Nurses.
Job Responsibilities
- Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. Communicates the plan of care and changes to this plan to the supervising physician.
- Performs any needed advanced procedures that are listed in the Scope of Practice document and approved as a part of the credentialing process.
- Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Participates in the professional development of others and serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team. Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, students and other health care providers.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices to enhance safety. Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms. Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.

NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
PA - Physician Assistant (Practice Location)
BLS / PALS / NRP (if applicable)
DEA - if applicable
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree from an accredited physician assistant program.
- Minimum years/type of experience determined by division.
Additional Technical Requirements
- Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities. Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively.
