What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Inventory Control Specialist position at Children's National Medical Center?
The Inventory Control Specialist will be responsible to monitor the accuracy and timeliness of all inventory operations to include: on hand balances, transactions, receiving, handling, storage, and reporting. Will investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies and monitor demand fluctuations. Will assist Warehouse Buyer and Distribution Manager with tasks as needed.
Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED (Required) Associate's Degree Or Bachelors Degree (Preferred) Minimum Work Experience 2 years Related experience (Required) Required Skills/Knowledge Basic to moderate proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data analysis, and ERP systems. Experience with Peoplesoft ERP system. Functional Accountabilities Inventory
- Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts and maintain accurate on hand inventory balances; adjust on hand balances accordingly.
- Assist with data entry process.
- Assist inventory Buyer place orders and resolve purchasing discrepancies.
- Reconcile quantity on hand and unit of measure discrepancies.
- Oversee and ensure day-to-day inventory transactions are current and accurate.
- Maintain smooth day-to-day inventory systems operations.
- Store product appropriately by designating storage areas; adjusting storage areas according to product requirements and changes, and updating locations.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of goods and supplies.
- Coordinate inventory deliveries, return goods, proof of deliveries, correction of vendor shipping errors, and other tasks as needed.
- Authenticate goods and supplies received daily and maintain and resolve discrepancies.
- Compile and prepare inventory reports (cycle counting, slow and fast moving items, demand fluctuations, etc.)
- Print and review receiving report weekly.
- Investigate inventory shortages and discrepancies.
- File and maintain inventory records as needed.
- Work with sales reps, internal customers and other members of the department as necessary.
- Maintain physical condition of inventory space.
- Follow orders and complete all assigned tasks as delegated by the Distribution Manager.
