Job Summary
-
Performs technical functions of reprocessing, decontamination, disinfection, preparation, packaging, sterilization and distribution of reusable medical instrumentation, and handling/storage of disposable sterile supplies and accurately documents in compliance with FDA, CDC, AAMI, and JCAHO. Operates large high vacuum steam sterilizers, Paracetic Acid sterililizers, and Hydorgen Peroxoide Plasma sterilizers. Utilizes computer software for inventory tracking, materials management, biological documentation, and the associated computer hardware. Act as resource for Operating Room and other health care professionals for various sterilization and instrument care methods.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

At least one year experience in a healthcare facility Sterile Processing department required.

Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries

Certification with American Society of Hospital Sterile Processing Personnel (ASHCSP) or International Association of Health Care Central Service and Material Management (IAHCSMM) is desirable.
