BASIC FUNCTIONS
The van / bus driver is responsible for transporting children. The van / bus driver reports to the Center Director. Needed for on average 6-8 hours a day for summer activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
A high school diploma, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), and experience driving a 15-passenger van are required. Experience in the group care of young children, transporting young children, and driving at least a 24-passenger commercial vehicle is preferred. Must have passenger endorsement CDL and good driving record.
Van / bus drivers must be able to lift 40 pounds continuously without limitations and perform necessary cleaning in accordance with local, state, and national accreditation, health and safety standards. The van / bus driver must be able to pass a state criminal check, obtain a TB test and medical examination.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The van / bus driver assists in all aspects of the program pertaining to transportation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following general areas :
General Management / Professional Development
- Comply with and implement those aspects of the state minimum standards for licensed childcare centers and national accreditation standards, which apply to the position.
- Comply with and implement center and agency policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate activity logs and van / bus maintenance logs as required.
- Provide reports, trip data, gas receipts, etc. as required.
- Assume responsibility with minimal supervision; reliable; flexible; has a positive, supportive attitude toward both children and adults.
- Follow prescribed routes for pick-up and delivery of passengers.
- Must maintain communications with center staff, parents and supervisory personnel.
