Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday through Friday with rotating call on weekends and Holidays. Day shift 8:30-5:00 primarily at Anschutz lab.
Travel: Trave to network of car sites throughout the CHCO system.
Job Overview
Supports Point of Care testing for the Anschutz campus and Network of Care sites; participates in laboratory quality assurance activities with knowledge of regulatory requirements. This position is to coordinate and standardize POC device use throughout the Children’s care system. Strong customer service, teaching, training and organization skills are recommended. This candidate will interact with nurses, physicians daily and occasionally with regulatory inspectors. Experience with validations are a plus. Ability to flex work hours is necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Responsible for evaluating point of care results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up.
Ensures quality control is acceptable and point of care devices are functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed.
Consciously works to identify errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner.
Performs point of care laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies.
Assists operators in troubleshooting point of care devices when requested or when results are questionable.
Participates in point of care operator competency assessment and documentation.
Responsible for maintaining knowledge of current laboratory regulations and quality indicators and participate in accreditation readiness and laboratory inspections.
Responsible for evaluating quality assurance activities such as maintenance, reagent storage and quality control review and partnering with POC testing locations to ensure compliance.
Participates in coordinating proficiency testing for all Point of Care testing locations.
Teaches, trains and/or mentors healthcare professionals and new point of care employees according to standard operating procedures.
May participates in procedure review and writing.
May perform validations, verifications and implementation of new assays and devices.

SCOPE AND LEVEL
Guidelines: Fully qualified, full performance or journey level. Qualifications
EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE – Two years clinical laboratory experience required.
EQUIVALENCY – Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree.
CERTIFICATION(S) – Medical Technologist/Scientist Certification ASCP or equivalent

Salary Information
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $58,029.62 to $87,044.43
Hourly Salary Range: $27.90 to $41.85
